Superintendent’s Urban Principal Initiative (SUPI)
Funded by the U. S. Department of Education, through a subaward from Miami-Dade County Public Schools
The Professional Partner component of the Superintendent's Urban Principal Institute is managed by CIL and utilizes a network of retired principals to provide mentoring and coaching services to SUPI Leadership Teams in 39 schools. The retired principals, called Professional Partners to connote the equality of their relationship with the SUPI Leadership Team members, focus their support in science and mathematics, curriculum areas that traditionally are troublesome. Professional Partners received training in the use of the Museum's handheld math and science observation tool (see PD3 project), and assist their Leadership Teams to use this tool to identify staff development needs in math and science at their schools.
